Tennis Rules & Guidelines
- Please have your ID card scanned in the Pro Shop before playing.
- Members must register any and all guests at the Pro Shop and pay the appropriate guest fee(s) ($5.00). Those inside a 25-mile radius may play as guests only once per week.
- You must play in smooth soled shoes on the soft courts. Running, cross trainer, basketball, or similar shoes are not allowed.
- Relinquish your court promptly when being 'bumped' by the next group.
- Please repair any major breaks in the clay court surface after the point is finished
- Courts are open 8 AM until 10 PM (9PM in the Winter months).
- Proper tennis attire is required. Bathing suits are not allowed. Proper tennis shoes must be worn at all times.
- Team matches, tournaments, group lessons and special events sponsored by the Club will have priority on the courts. Adults have priority on the soft courts at all times. Juniors have equal priority on hard courts, including the winter months when the clay courts are unplayable. A junior playing with an adult has equal priority to an "an-adult" match.
- Doubles and singles play is limited to one and one half hours when players are waiting. Please "bump' with courtesy.
- Lighted courts are available on a "first come, first to serve" basis until 10 PM. Turn off all lights upon departure, if you are the last to leave. The lights will go off at 9 PM during the winter months.
- Please follow tennis courtesy... No unattended children on or around the tennis courts and the Pro Shop & deck area. No dogs on the 7Oaks facility at any time. No in-line skating, roller skates, skateboards, bicycles or ball games of other types are allowed on the tennis courts, on the sidewalks between the courts, on the deck, or in the grassy areas surrounding the tennis courts.
- Only the Seven Oaks pros may teach on our courts. Only members may take lessons on Seven Oaks courts.
- Members are asked to limit their practice to one "carry" basket of balls, and to use only six balls if the adjacent court is being used.
Signing for a Court
The courts at 7 Oaks are utilized and rotated on a first-come, first served HONOR SYSTEM. It is a simple system based on honesty and the ability to tell time and should require no supervision.
- After checking in, everyone must sign for their court with the time and the players listed on the sign up board.
- One player may not sign up for a court. There must be at least 2 players present to both sign and occupy a court or sign up on the wait list.
- You must use the current time on the clock by the chalkboard. You may not add additional time for warm-up, getting down to the courts, etc.
- Players on court may not change their initial 'start' time or have it changed by someone else.
- A new player(s) entering an existing signed court may not change the initial time on the board. This includes adding 2 players to a singles match to play doubles or switching new players into a "team practice".
- Do not sign as "Team Practice" or "Practice Match"... sign as individual members on court. Only club events take priority as designated by staff.
- Time limit for both singles and doubles is 1 1/2 hours when players are waiting.
- Waiting players should list their intentions by signing on the bottom of the sign up board under either Clay or Hard courts.
- Guest of members may not sign for or occupy a court. Guests must wait for the member, be signed in, and appropriate fees paid before play.
- Adults have priority on the soft courts
- Juniors have equal priority on the hard courts.
